"Coaching is the art of facilitating the performance, learning and development of another."

Coaching, implemented at an individual and organizational level, can deliver dramatic results and drive significant financial impact to the bottom line. Today's values-based organizations employ coaching to build alignment, to develop their current and future leaders, and to ensure the success of corporate training programs. Coaching is about action and results!

Just as a football coach coaches a football team, a corporate coach coaches an organisation, focusing on the corporate team and corporate vision, mission, values and strategy.

What is executive and corporate coaching?

Executive Coaching – Develops individuals with commitment to progress and  fast-trackers or high performing leaders. Often executives need an objective, neutral sounding board to discuss challenges, opportunities and their perspective. Our coaches allow executives and managers to step away from their day-to-day routine and effectively strategize on how they can reach beyond where they are currently.

Corporate coaching- involves coaching towards organisational goals. Results are measured against the performance requirements of the organisation.

Corporate coaches combine basic coaching skills with an in-depth understanding of the language, dynamics, processes and culture of organisations – whether these be large companies, SMEs or public sector.

Where does it fit in with the work?

Corporate coaching can take place with individuals or groups. Face-to-face coaching can be supported by telephone or e-mail contact. Corporate coaches can work to a specific schedule or on a retainer, and provide long term support, or be brought in to accelerate change or a specific project.

Where corporate coaching involves coaching a whole organisation in one form or another, it usually requires initial survey work and can overlap into both executive and life coaching.

What are the benefits?

Organisations that incorporate coaching into their culture see sustainable improvements in key areas, including internal and external communications, productivity, employee attitudes, and recruitment and retention of staff.

  • Aligning individual performance with team and organizational objectives
  • Maximizing and leveraging strengths
  • Increasing and enhancing communication between managers, direct reports and teams
  • Helping individuals take ownership and responsibility for their behaviors and actions
  • Encouraging individuals to stretch beyond their assumed constraints

Does coaching really work in the corporate environment?

A recent study in the Journal of Public Personnel Management found that training improved managerial productivity 22.4% while training plus coaching improved productivity 88%.

David A.Fitzhugh, professor of business administration at Harvard Business School, believes the quality of the relationship between boss and subordinate is a major predictor of success. Talking with subordinates about their developmental needs absolutely affects that relationship positively and there’s a big potential payoff.

A corporate coach takes into consideration the vision, mission and culture of an organization and the values and professional goals of an individual. The goal is to make sure that both are in alignment.

When the vision, mission and culture of an organization are in alignment with an individual’s values and professional goals, the employee is committed to the organization, more productive, effective and happier at their job. This handles the retention and productivity issues that many organizations face.

Our Goals for the Corporate Coaching:

  1. Articulate the organization’s vision, purpose, direction, strategies, major goals and actions.
  2. Involve/include members to acquire understanding, connection, commitment, passion and ownership.
  3. Align member goals, actions and expectations with those of the organization.
  4. Remove barriers and provide resources.
  5. Follow up and hold people accountable.
  6. Promote feedback, input and idea-sharing from members.
  7. Challenge and inspire the organization and its individual members to stretch for greatness.
  8. Develop and grow people through meaningful work.
  9. Increase work/career satisfaction and personal fulfillment.
  10. Create a positive, productive community of members who volunteer their best and fulfill their potential.

Why is the word member used instead of employee? Think about it…the word member implies a person is a part of an organization because they want to be; they understand what the organization stands for and are totally on board!

This creates a win-win environment. “Win-Win” is a belief in the third alternative. It’s not your way or my way; it’s about creating a better way!
